DJ Roop knows that every great journey begins with a first beat. In Kolkata, India, he teaches at the Tomorrowland Foundation’s Music & Arts School, founded together with Ek Tara, where more than 1,500 underprivileged girls discover the power of music, dance and art.
“The purpose of Ek Tara is to give children who are less privileged a starting point, and guide them on their first steps,” he says. “The art to being a good DJ is to keep on learning and picking up new stuff from all over.”
After a new Dj-room was opened recently, the school found fresh momentum. “We’re showing them a dream of Tomorrowland and are trying hard to fulfill it. That thought itself gives inspiration.”
